I’m glad you’ve stumbled across my blog. My name is Sarah Stephan. I am a full-time college student in small town Iowa. My days consist of class, choir, more class, and lots of food prep! In 2018, I began to have really painful stomach flare ups after almost every meal - something had to change. After lots of doctors visits, tests, and research I decided to radically change the way I eat… and it changed my life! Dropping the college’s meal plan and cooking for myself was a big step. It takes constant dedication and self control, but it has made all the difference.
So what do I eat? It was suggested to me that I try the elimination diet to determine the foods that irritate my stomach and the foods that are safe. It was a grueling process for sure. The detox week was brutal, but cleansing my body from all the nasty toxins made the results of the elimination diet more accurate. Dairy, gluten, caffeine, and most meats all irritated my stomach/body in some way. At first, I was like THAT’S EVERYTHING! I quickly learned that creativity was the only way I was going to survive on a mostly* raw, plant based diet. I created this blog to share my recipes and also some tips and tricks for cooking with limited resources (a.k.a. dorm cooking). I hope you enjoy!
